ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರದ ಪುಸರಭೆ  ಕೃ.ಶ 1872   ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಯಾಯಿತು. ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರದ ಪುರಸಭೆಯ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯು 12.5 ಚದರ ಕೀ.ಮಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು ಘಟಪ್ರಭಾ ನದಿಯ ದಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಯಚೂರ-ನಿಪ್ಪಾಣಿ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಗೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಮುಧೋಳ ತಾಲೂಕ ಬಾಗಲಕೋಟ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ.        

                               ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಸುಮಾರು ಸನ್ 2001 ರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ 30858 ಈಗಿನ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಸುಮಾರು 35595. ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಗಂಡಿನ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ 15603 ಹಾಗೂ ಹೆಣ್ಣೆನ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ 15255 ಹಾಗೂ 7039 ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು 23 ವಾರ್ಡಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು ಅಷ್ಟೆ ಸದಸ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.         

                               Town Municipal Council was established in the year 1872. The TMC Mahalingpur covers an area of 12.5 sqkms and is found on the bank of Ghatprabha River. It is situated on the Raichur-Nippani state Highway and it belongs to Bagalkot District.        

                              The population of Mahalingpur town as per 2001 census is 30858 but now it is about 35595. The male population is 15603 and Female population is 15255. It has 7039 houses with 23 wards and equal number of members,                                        

                              This town has more irrigated land, the main crop that are grown here are Sugarcane, Maize, Cotton & Turmeric,.                                     

                             Mahalingpur has Agricultural produce market and it is “ Second largest market in production and exporter of Jougary in Karnataka”

                                                              ಮಹಾಲಿಂಗಪುರದ ಪುಸರಭೆ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಘನ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಸ್ತು ವಿಲೇವಾರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿರ್ವಯಣೆ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ಕಾರ್ಯರುಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ಸದರಿ ಘನ ತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಸ್ತು ವಿಲೇವಾರಿ ಮಾಡಲು 8 ಎಕರೆ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಚಿಮ್ಮಡ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸರ್ವೇ ನಂ 78 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಖರೀದಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸದರಿ ಘನತ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಸ್ತು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕವಾಗಿ ವಿಲೇವಾರಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುವದು. 

                                     The Solid Waste Management is taken up in the Mahalingpur TMC and it is in progress, for this purpose 8 Acres of land bearing Survey No:78 are purchased in Chimmada Village for scientific way of disposal of Solid Waste.
